Lead Incident Investigation

The course objective is to provide participants with the requisite knowledge and basic skill level to undertake a thorough and competent workplace incident investigation for and on behalf of their employer in compliance with company policy and procedure and Mining Act & Regulations.

Topics covered:

Day 1:

  • Workplace statistics and cost to business and community
  • The legal system as it applies to workplaces
  • Court protocol and expert witnesses application to company investigator
  • Tasks and responsibilities of a company investigator
  • Incident investigation steps
  • Incident investigation planning
  • Information collection from workplace environment/plant/human factors

Day 2:

  • Physical evidence interpretation for vehicle related incidents
  • Witness statements protocol
  • Incident recording presentation (photographs)
  • Incident recording presentation (sketch/scale plans)
  • Incident analysis presentation (reconstruction/time distance analysis)
  • Course assessment

Upon successful completion the participant will be issued with a Certificate of Completion.
